The Jan. 13 episode of Teen Wolf was all about the infamous “she-wolf” of Beacon Hills, revealing two important things: One, female werewolves are blessed with impeccable eyebrows, and two, I’ll never get that Shakira song out of my head. Ever.
It took quite a bit of detective work by Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) to figure this out, and strangely enough, they actually had help from the Beacon Hills Police Department! Honestly, I never thought I’d see the day where Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) actually closed a case. Kudos!
Of course, tracking down Malia — played by The Secret Circle‘s Shelley Hennig, just to sweeten the deal — was merely one major triumph this week. Scott was only able to get her to turn back into a human by going full-Alpha; Allison (Crystal Reed) stopped being all shaky; and Stiles rid himself of his supernatural dyslexia. In other words, they’re all better now!
And the gang’s recovery couldn’t come at a better time. In the final moments of the episode someone unleashed something within the Nemeton, causing a bunch of fireflies to come out and, I think, transform into… something. Basically, the pack’s problems have only just begun.
Honestly, I’m just excited to have Shelley Hennig back on my TV. The Secret Circle was a damn treasure.
Desperate to regain control over his transformations earlier in the episode, Scott turned to an unlikely — but definitely not unwelcome — pair of allies: Ethan and Aidan (Charlie and Max Carver)! Scott claimed no one had heard from the twins in weeks, but it turns out that wasn’t the case. One text from Lydia (Holland Roden) set up a meeting with the former Alpha twins, which means she and Aidan are still totally doing it, much to Stiles’ disappointment.
Anyway, the twins spent most of their meeting beating the crap out of Scott — thanks for the two-on-one action, Jeff Davis — to the point where I honestly wasn’t sure what they were hoping to accomplish.
Fans of Stiles and Lydia’s inevitable romance were also thrown a bone this week when Lydia found herself on the brink of death — or, at least, on the brink of losing a foot. Malia’s dad set up traps all over the forest, and Lydia was unfortunate enough to step right into one. She gave Stiles a pep talk about how he’s always “the one” that fixes problems, so have saved her, and then they kissed. … OK, fine, they didn’t kiss. But they should have!
Isaac (Daniel Sharman), on the other hand, wasn’t so lucky; he snared his leg in a trap, and it wasn’t until Scott roared his pack together that he managed to break free. And speaking of Isaac, I have two thoughts: First, I can’t believe Stiles had the nerve to call him out for wearing a scarf in 65-degree weather. And secondly, how much did you love his romantic scene with Allison? I mean, yes, they were talking about a little girl’s pee, but it was still totally romantic.
Lastly, and most importantly, can we all have a moment of silence for Peter’s (Ian Bohen) finger? God rest its tiny little soul.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of this week’s episode? Are you bummed we didn’t get the Stiles/Lydia kiss we were basically promised? Drop a comment with your review below!
