Taylor Swift was brave enough to attend the Golden Globes on Jan. 12 after hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler viciously targeted her at last year’s ceremony, but it turns out she didn’t leave the 2014 Globes unscathed. Though the funny women initially seemed to avoid any T-Swift jokes, Tina did drop in a sneaky, hilarious diss.
This one needs a little explaining — that’s how deep Tina and Amy went in to slam Taylor this year. Okay, so after the hosts ripped Taylor apart in 2013 — telling Tay Tay to stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son — the singer gave an interview to Vanity Fair and said that there was “a special place in hell” for women who don’t help women, clearly referencing Tina and Amy.
Fast-forward to last night: After Amy won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy, her co-host Tina took the mic and said, “I love you, and there’s a special place in hell for you.” Get it!?
The joke mostly went unnoticed — Taylor may not have even caught it — but it definitely seems like Tina was deliberately poking fun at Taylor’s overreaction last year. HollywoodLife.com exclusively got Taylor’s reaction later on!
After Taylor basically told Tina and Amy to go to hell in her Vanity Fair interview, the two SNL alums responded to her outrage. “If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron,” Tina told Entertainment Tonight. “I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke.”
“Aww, I feel bad if she was upset,” Amy added to The Hollywood Reporter. “That being said, I do agree that I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”
So HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Tina’s diss? Are you amazed she managed to sneak one in there? Let us know!
