Though the Jan. 5 episode of ‘The Bachelor’ was mainly a countdown to the new season, the show took out a good chunk of time to pay homage to Gia, who tragically committed suicide on Aug. 12.
Gia Allemand Honored On ‘The Bachelor’
Bachelor host Chris Harrison led the tribute, saying that Gia had kept in touch with all of the cast and crew. A subsequent video clip that ran showed Gia herself talking sweetly about love, friendship, and life.
Then fellow contestants like Ashleigh, Jaclyn, Chris, Jackie, Ames, and Jenna gave testimonials, talking about how much they loved her, how much they’ll always remember her laugh, and how big her heart was.
But the most heart-wrenching segment of the clip was when Gia’s mother, Donna, added in — as her voice broke — how much she truly missed her daughter. Gia’s mother also pleaded that those who are having suicidal thoughts seek help before they take any action against themselves. That message is one that will make sure Gia’s death was not in vain.
It was such an emotional tribute that it was almost hard to watch, but The Bachelor definitely did the right thing by showing Gia in a positive light, and remembering her for the things she ought to be remembered by.
