Gail Simmons Shares ‘Top Chef’ Pregnancy Diet
As a chef and foodie, it’s no surprise that Gail decided to indulge in lots of delicious and healthy food while filming Top Chef: New Orleans during her pregnancy — making sure to limit the foods that might not be safe for her baby.
“There were very few things on this season that I couldn’t eat,” she told USA Today. If she encountered something raw, “I knew, I would see it and just eat around it. (Or) eat the garnish, ask Tom [Colicchio] what he thought. I think there was maybe twice when there was something in front of me that because I was pregnant I couldn’t eat it.”
Gail concealed her pregnancy on the show, but made a personal effort to eat safely. “I didn’t drink, I didn’t drink caffeine and I didn’t eat raw food — raw protein,” she explained. “I didn’t eat raw meat, raw fish, raw eggs and raw cheese. But otherwise you can eat anything you want! I have definitely cut back on eating cured meats, but that’s OK. It’s just nine months. I’m not finding it that difficult. I eat for a living, so I was very worried. And it’s really not that restrictive.”
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you like the name Dahlia Rae?
