So heartbreaking. The parents of the Arapahoe High School shooter, Karl Pierson, have reached out in support to the family of Claire Davis, empathizing with their ‘unimaginable grief.’
Barbara and Mark Pierson, the parents of Arapahoe High School shooter Karl Pierson, 18, issued a gut-wrenching statement on Dec. 22 in the wake of shooting victim Claire Davis‘ death. The Piersons mourn Claire, the innocent 17-year-old their son shot in the head before taking his own life on Dec. 13. Claire Davis’ Killer’s Family Releases Statement: ‘Our Hearts Ache’ For Victim
“We are heartbroken to hear of Claire’s passing. Our hearts ache for her family as they deal with unimaginable grief. Our prayers are with Claire’s family & the entire Arapahoe community,” said the statement released by Karl Pierson’s family.
Karl brought a loaded shotgun and two Molotov cocktails to the high school where he and Claire were both students. Though Claire was not the intended target, Karl shot her at point-blank range on his way through the school’s hallways. He later turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
Claire Davis Dies, Community Mourns Brave Spirit
Claire passed away from her traumatic head injuries on Dec. 21, after being in a coma for eight days.
“Despite the best efforts of our physicians and nursing staff, and Claire’s fighting spirit, her injuries were too severe and the most advanced medical treatments could not prevent this tragic loss of life,” a spokesperson for Colorado’s Littleton Adventist Hospital said in a statement following Claire’s passing.
