After three months of blood, sweat and trebles, the final contestants of The Voice‘s fifth season — Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin — came together Dec. 17 for one last meeting of the melodies. Unfortunately, only one would emerge victorious at the end of the two-hour event.
With their remaining finalists singing for their lives — or, at least, for their careers — Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera were on pins and needles all night. Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green were also excited, but without any horses in the race, they more-or-less took a backseat this evening.
America has spoken, and Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin is officially the new Voice winner!
Host Carson Daly announced the long-awaited results at the end of the two-hour finale, finally answering the question lingering in Voice fans’ minds since September.
Though it was anyone’s game going into the finale — seriously, all three finalists deserved to win — we’re pretty happy that Tessanne Chin ended the season on top. Jacquie came in second, while Will fell to third.
But the crowning of a new Voice champion wasn’t the only reason to tune into the two-hour finale. Some of the biggest stars in the music industry graced the stage, including Celine Dion and Ne-Yo, who sang their new romantic ballad, “Incredible.”
OneRepublic also lit up the stage with a solid performance, but the special guest everyone was really excited about was Lady Gaga, who added a much-needed dash of crazy to the otherwise-tame Voice studio.
