Penelope Cruz revealed in a new interview that she breastfed her now 2-year-old son Leo for 13 months, and plans to follow the exact same schedule when nursing her infant 5-month-old daughter, Luna. The Allure magazine Jan. 2014 cover star explained that she has the toughest time adjusting when it’s time to wean.
Penelope, 39, explained that she loves being able to nurse her children. “[Breastfeeding] is addictive,” she explained to Allure.

“I was breastfeeding my son [for] 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter,” she said of her experience. “It’s hard when the day comes when you have to stop.”
Penelope is also using her nursing time as the perfect opportunity to indulge in a few hundred extra healthy calories. “I’m supposed to get extra calories because breast-feeding you burn, like, an extra 500 a day,” she explained.
Penelope has become extra aware of the importance of motherhood to her, as she plays an infertile woman struggling to have children in her latest film, The Counselor. “I always knew I wanted a family because of the way I grew up,” she told Allure. “Family has always been the most important thing,” she said of her two children and husband Javier Bardem.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Are you surprised that Penelope called breastfeeding “addictive?”
