Miley took a quick break from twerking to open up to Barbara Walters about the truth behind her engagement to Liam. The full interview airs Dec. 18 on ABC.
It was a refreshing change to see Miley Cyrus in a chic fully buttoned up shirt, sharing a couch with Barbara Walters as one of 2013’s “10 Most Fascinating People.” The “Wrecking Ball” singer gave an honest and revealing interview, finally explaining her point of view on why things with ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth, didn’t work out, and how while she was engaged, she felt like she couldn’t be herself.
Miley Cyrus Reveals Personal Details About Failed Engagement
Sitting next to Barbara, 84, there was an amazing maturity about Miley, 21, as she spoke eloquently and openly about her four-year relationship with Liam, and how the real problem was that she just wasn’t ready for it.
“I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged,” she said. “It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years, but now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.”
And on the topic of being by herself, the singer also shared with Barbara how this year has been a lot about getting over her fear of being alone. “I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year.”
That’s just so honest and inspiring! Good for Miley!
Miley Cyrus Gets All Up On Santa Claus
But in case after reading this you thought Miley had calmed down, never fear! Though she’s certainly made is clear she can get serious when necessary, the “We Can’t Stop” princess is still all about her fun, even taking the time to twerk on the world’s number one Christmas cookie lover, Santa!
You heard right! Miley full-on booty popped Mr. Clause at LA’s Jingle Ball on Dec. 6, and in case that wasn’t enough, at the same concert in St. Paul, MN, she went so far as to drink with him – sipping on a bottle hidden in a paper bag! You go girl! Holiday spirit indeed.
