Paul Walker was known for his role in the action series ‘The Fast and the Furious,’ but his acting skills went far beyond that — he was even planning on starring in ‘The Best of Me,’ an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks romance novel.
The world was completely heartbroken by the tragic death of Paul Walker on Nov. 30. Author Nicholas Sparks revealed that he too was devastated by the death — and that he was planning on working with Paul.
Paul Walker’s Last Role — A Nicholas Sparks Adaptation
Nicholas took to WhoSay on Dec. 6 to post the following message for Paul:
I send my deepest sympathy to Paul Walker’s family, all those close to him, and the legion of his fans. I am certainly one of those fans, and was thrilled at the possibility of working with him on The Best of Me. His passing is a huge loss for all who respected him for his charitable efforts, and loved watching him on screen.
The Best of Me is Nicholas’ 2011 novel about two high school sweethearts who reunite after being apart for 20 years. Paul would be absolutely great in the role and the book actually combines romance with action — something that Paul would have done amazing.
The film is currently in pre-production and set to be released in October 2014.
‘Fast & Furious 7’ Will Begin Filming Again
Before his death, Paul was in the middle of filming Fast & Furious 7, which took a hiatus after the accident while the cast and crew grieved.
On Dec. 4, Universal released the following statement:
Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.
However, two days later, the director James Wan told TMZ that production would be starting up again, and that the cast is doing everything they can to move forward.
