Lamar pleaded no contest to his DUI on Dec. 9, and as a result, he will be on probation for the next three years. Still, Lamar is thankful that the hearing is over so he can finally ‘move on with his life,’ a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
More than three months after Lamar Odom was arrested for a DUI on Aug. 30, the troubled basketball star struck a plea deal with prosecutors and agreed to do three years of probation. Lamar, a first-time DUI offender, will also have to attend a three-month alcohol education class by June 9, 2014.
Lamar Odom On Probation — LO Gets Three Years Probation In DUI Case
Lamar is finally facing the music after his shocking DUI arrest. In addition to his probation and alcohol classes, the NBA player will also have to pay $1,814 in fines and fees, according to TMZ. Lamar’s driver’s license was also automatically suspended for one year after he refused to take a blood alcohol test when police pulled him over on Aug. 30.

Despite the harsh sentence, Lamar is looking forward to a fresh start.
“Any lawyer would have advised Lamar to plead ‘no contest’ on things like this,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He didn’t admit that he was guilty and he didn’t want a long, drawn-out trial or a some civil suit so this was the smartest and the fastest thing for him to do to put this behind him. It’s done now. He can move on with his life.”
Khloe Kardashian Plans To File For Divorce From Lamar Odom?
Sadly, a lot of damage has already been done. Lamar is close to losing his last chance with the LA Clippers, and HollywoodLife.com has learned that his wife, Khloe Kardashian, has been carefully “calculating” her divorce plans for weeks.
So will Lamar’s probation make things worse for him professionally and personally? Not according to one well-placed source.
“I can’t keep count of how may professional athletes in general are on some type of probation. Doesn’t mean squat. As long as he can pass a physical and play to the level that a team needs him to be at, he’s good,” the source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “As for Khloe, the worst has already happened. She would have preferred this be the only snag in his life.”
Another source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY:
The plea is advantageous to Lamar because he can avoid an uncertain criminal trial. It also eliminates the possibility of any negative facts, such as his alleged drug and alcohol abuse, from being aired out in the public eye. The deal fits nicely with his potential return to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he has allegedly agreed to undergo random drug test with the team. However, if Lamar fails a drug/alcohol test, then he will have not only violated his probation and risked potential jail time but also any potential LA Clipper contract.
Though it may be too late for Lamar and Khloe to save their marriage, it sounds like he still has a solid shot with the NBA. A third source adds, “It will have no negative effect on his NBA happenings. It will actually help out because he will not have the option to get into more trouble. So it is a blessing in disguise.”
