The Queen of Fridays has returned with a new song called (obviously) “Saturday!” The video has everything that initially made Rebecca an internet sensation and more — including a funny little dig at Miley. So read on to watch!
In 2011, Rebecca Black released “Friday,” an unbelievably simple song that was so bad it was good, and skyrocketed to internet stardom. Well it took two years, but the viral princess has done it again. On Dec. 7 she dropped the sequel, an aptly-titled song called “Saturday” that even featured a Miley Cyrus look-alike!
Rebecca Black Releases ‘Saturday’
The genius of “Friday” — with amazing lyrics like “Gotta have my bowl, gotta have my cereal” — can’t be overstated, so Rebecca’s new followup, “Saturday,” has a lot to live up to.
But right off the bat Rebecca — now 16 years old — proves that she hasn’t changed up the winning formula too much, and that she isn’t afraid to make fun of herself. The singer immediately calls back to that “Friday” lyric by sipping cereal out of a bowl that has the words, “Gotta Have My Bowl” written on it.
And “Saturday” features some more hilariously simple lyrics with lines like, “Yesterday was Friday, today is Saturday.” Gosh, we really love you, Rebecca.
Miley Cyrus Mocked By Rebecca Black
But the “Saturday” video really won us over towards the end when a fake Miley showed up to the party. The look-alike has Miley’s patented bleached blonde hairdo, as well as her white beater-white underwear get-up from the “Wrecking Ball” video (the stuff Miley wore before she got naked).
A la “We Can’t Stop,” the faux-Miley twerks in her tighty-whities while partygoers rage and celebrate around her.
We never thought we’d be able to use Miley Cyrus and Rebecca Black’s names in the same sentence, so yeah, we’re pretty thankful for “Saturday.”
