It takes more than a gust of wind to ground the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone and more wowed the huge crowd who braved the winter winds to kick off of the 2013 holiday season.
Despite threats from the “Gobblegeddon” storm that grounded millions of travelers this Thanksgiving holiday, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade went off without a hitch Nov. 28. Performers like Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone, and Kellie Pickler stunned in a memorable show that also included Fifth Harmony and the Duck Dynasty clan.
Ariana Grande And Austin Mahone Rock The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Ariana and Austin are on fire — even in the ice! Both stars have had spectacular years, and the stylish “Right There” singer continued her overall pop culture dominance as she performed a medley of her hits on Nickelodeon’s Dora The Explorer float. Austin rocked it as well, performing “Banga! Banga!” and more from the Build-A-Bear “International Cele-Bear-Ation Clock Tower” float, proving that he’s back and better than ever after that hospital scare last month.
Other highlights in the three-hour broadcast included Fifth Harmony‘s performance on the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish float, country crooner Kellie on the NHL float, and Fall Out Boy‘s performance with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as an appearance by the Duck Dynasty fam.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: The Balloons!
As much as we all love the performances, the Thanksgiving Day Parade has always been about one thing — the balloons! 2013’s parade introduced several new floats, including the seventh version of Snoopy with Woodstock, The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary balloon, Adventure Time‘s Finn and Jake, the second version of SpongeBob SquarePants, and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. We loved them all, but are particularly partial to the Adventure Time boys because they’re just so damn adorable.
