A countdown clock teases a major announcement coming Friday, Dec. 6, at 12 p.m. EST! Is Brian coming back?
When Brian Griffin died on the Nov. 24 episode of Family Guy, fans reacted with a flood of emotions — mostly fury, directed at creator Seth MacFarlane for offing one of his show’s most beloved characters. But a cryptic new website hints that fans might soon be feeling a new emotion: relief! BriansAnnouncement.com promises “a special announcement” from the Griffin family’s dearly departed pet, complete with a countdown clock promoting the mysterious reveal.
Unfortunately, that’s where the well dries up. The website offers no further information about what said announcement might be, leaving fans to speculate what could be in store for the late, great Brian Griffin.
Also weird: A Fox source tells HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine that the network has no involvement with the site. (TVLine also speculates the site is teasing a miraculous Christmas resurrection for Brian, which I wouldn’t put past Family Guy.)
Is Brian Griffin Getting A ‘Family Guy’ Spin-Off?
OK, work with me here: How amazing would it be if the big announcement was a Brian spin-off? The Cleveland Show didn’t work as well as Fox had hoped, but that’s because Cleveland was never a beloved character. Brian’s adventures in the afterlife would be an incredible show, especially since he spent all of his years on earth as an outspoken atheist.
I’m not sure where Brian would end up — hell, if you ask Quagmire — but I’d follow him week after week, for sure.
It’s also possible that Brian faked his death, as part of some larger plan.
Either way, this whole Brian mystery is drawing plenty of attention to Family Guy, which — according to HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline — hasn’t been performing nearly as well as it did last season. Maybe a death hoax is just what Seth’s former giant needs to get back on top!
