Plus, Kendrick gets candid with HollywoodLife.com about food, fitness and… Justin Bieber? Oh, yes.
When we last left Jesse on The Vampire Diaries, he was crashing on Dr. Maxfield’s operating table, his body full of Caroline’s blood. So will he become a villainous vampire? A fanged friend? Something else entirely? Kendrick Sampson tells HollywoodLife.com not to jump to conclusions, hinting that “there’s a surprise coming” on the show’s Oct. 31 episode — and just in time for Halloween!
“It might not be exactly what people are thinking,” Kendrick tells us.
One thing’s for sure, though: Jesse and Caroline’s potential romance will definitely be put on hold now that Tyler (Michael Trevino) is back in the picture — and maybe that’s a good thing for Kendrick.
“When I first joined the show, and The CW referred to Jesse as maybe a love interest for Caroline, I got a lot of tweets,” Kendrick tells us. “They weren’t really mean or anything, but people definitely didn’t want Jesse messing up — what is it, ‘Klaroline?'”
Kendrick says he actually received mostly positive reactions from fans, even after swapping spit with Caroline in the woods!
“Once I actually appeared on the show, I started getting some really encouraging tweets,” he says. “They were like, ‘I’m a ‘Klaroline’ fan, but I don’t know, I’m really like Jesse and Caroline together.'”
Kendrick Sampson: Meet The Man Behind The Character
While most of the actors on The Vampire Diaries are nothing like their on-screen personas, Jesse and Kendrick actually aren’t too different — hard-working, down-to-earth and funny. But there is one thing you should probably know about real-life Kendrick: He might be a Belieber!
“I wouldn’t exactly call myself a singer,” he says. “I sing, and my entire family is full of musicians, but I don’t sing professionally … Right now, I can’t get ‘Heartbreaker’ out of my head — that new Justin Bieber song.”
(Don’t worry, we know the song.) And while Kendrick admits he works hard for his physique, don’t expect to see him grabbing a salad when something juicier is on the menu.
“I’m so bad sometimes,” he admits. “I’ll do double-time in the gym if I know it means I’ll get to eat more.”
And eat he does! Kendrick says he spends most of his off-screen time with TVD veterans Kat Graham and Steven R. McQueen, usually scoping out new restaurants, and he even has a particular guilty pleasure.
“I love creole food,” he says. “They have amazing creole food in Atlanta. I can’t resist it.”
And we can’t resists Kendrick! Watch him on an all-new episode of The Vampire Diaries, tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW!
