Plus, zombies invade Grey Sloan Memorial!
The patients that came into Grey Sloan Memorial on the Oct. 31 episode of Grey’s Anatomy had some seriously gross wounds. There was blood, maggots and…zombies? Let’s dig into the spook-tacular Halloween episode!
The episode opened with very happy Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) in bed with Leah (Tessa Ferrer)! When Leah realized what they’d done the night before, she kind of freaked out. She wanted to make it seem like it was innocent snuggling, but you know Leah is developing strong feelings for Arizona.
Butterflies & Princesses & Astronauts. Oh, My!
Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) was worried about Alex (Justin Chambers) setting up her old house for trick-or-treaters, as she was a little preoccupied with Zola’s butterfly costume. Since Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith don’t have neighbors at their mansion, Alex offered up the house for one night. Cristina (Sandra Oh) wasn’t initially invited, and when she asked Meredith about it, Cristina said, “I hate children, but I love your kids.” And with that, my heart broke a little inside.
Meanwhile, Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona fought over what Sophia wanted to be for Halloween. Callie said princess, Arizona said astronaut. They decided that it was up to Sophia to decide. Yay for maturity!
Oh, and April (Sarah Drew) was going as a bunny. And no, not a Playboy bunny. A Velveteen bunny.
Is This ‘The Walking Dead’?
A mauling victim came into the hospital with a hideous wound and said someone ate his face! Then another victim took a nasty bite into Leah’s neck! This was absolutely nuts!
Leah had to be tested for all infections, including HIV. While Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) was examining the bite, she found a tooth. Disgusting is an accurate word for that.
While Leah was anxiously awaiting on her HIV results, Arizona helped calm her worry. She told Leah a similar story to reach out to her. (‘Calzona’ fans may hate me, but I love this blooming romance!
Oh, and then another woman came in and revealed maggots in her wound! (This is getting too gross for words!)
There’s also a weird old lady that was troubling Shane (Gaius Charles). There was no record of her anywhere and she wouldn’t give up her name. She’s got crazy eyes too!
Confessions & Apologies
Jo (Camilla Luddington) thought her relationship with Alex was over after his catastrophic run-in with his dad, but at the end of the episode, Jo apologized about his dad. She never meant to hurt him, she just wanted him to be happy. After slight hesitation, Alex cracked a smile and let her inside!
Also, her Tinker Bell costume was amazing.
In other news, Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) husband Ben (Jason George) came back! Praise! However, this Halloween night wasn’t the best for Bailey. First, she was taken off Richard’s (James Pickens Jr.) case, which left her dumbfounded.
Then, Bailey’s husband confessed that he wanted to be with Bailey and Tucker again — but she didn’t want him to give up his love of surgery for her. He told her he loved his family more than anything. Bailey couldn’t comprehend how her husband loved her more than he loved surgery. Hm… This sounds like another Shonda Rhimes show I know (i.e. Scandal).
Needless to say, Bailey and Ben are encountering marriage troubles.
After weeks of pouting and a negative attitude, Richard apologized to Meredith for saying she was the “wrong choice” for his next-of-kin. His apology was sincere and I’m glad the old Richard is returning.
At the end of the episode, Cristina headed to the bar as none other than a witch. I loved this. Shane was also there and offered to buy her a drink and she said yes! Do I sense a new friendship? Yes, yes, yes!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy?
