So sweet! Pro skier Lindsey says her biggest supporter is her boyfriend, Tiger Woods. She credits him with helping her get her through her recovery after she suffered a horrific skiing accident in February.
Lindsey Vonn opened up to Today Show host Matt Lauer during an interview on Oct. 28, saying her relationship with Tiger Woods gave her the strength to properly recuperate after suffering what could have been a career-ending injury. Read on for all the details!
Lindsey Vonn: Tiger Woods Helped Me Recover After Ski Accident
Tiger’s words of encouragement have helped Lindsey, 29, recuperate in eight months. “He said, ‘Just be patient, keep working hard, and everything is going to turn around.’ It really helped me get through it,” she gushed to Matt on the show.
Lindsey suffered what could have been a serious blow to her competitive skiing career in February when she crashed during the Alpine World Championships in Austria. Thankfully, Tiger could relate to Lindsey’s pain.
“He works extremely hard, and he’s obviously had an ACL injury as well and had the same surgery, so he knew what I was going through,” she told Matt.
It’s great that Lindsey and Tiger, 37, are so supportive of each other. Lindsey has been spotted at Tiger’s golf competitions several times over the past year, and hopefully, he will show his support for her by attending the upcoming Winter Olympics, which she plans to participate in regardless of her injury.
Lindsey Vonn Will Compete In The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics
Lindsey revealed to Matt that while she’s only been back on the slopes for a few days, that won’t hold her back from competing in the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia, a goal she expressed during her last Today Show interview shortly after the incident in February.
Competing is one thing, but does she see herself taking home a medal?
“You better believe it,” she told Matt.
Although she had a very scary accident, Lindsey certainly hasn’t lost her spirit or competitive edge! No doubt this resilience is something she shares with Tiger.
We’re happy to hear that Lindsey has recovered and we wish her the best in the upcoming Winter Olympics!
