When Jenna gets sloppy about getting sloppy with Collin, her blog isn’t the only thing that goes public.
When we last left Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards), she was locked in forbidden foreplay with that smarmy wordsmith Collin (Nolan Funk); and while she managed to go an entire weekend without kissing him again, Awkward‘s Oct. 22 premiere found her once again smashing her mouth against his.
If you’re wondering why I’m describing Jenna and Collin’s make-out sessions in such ugly terms, it’s because I don’t co-sign their behavior. Jenna’s been kind of the worst since day one, but now she is most definitely the very worst. Collin sucks too, but this is not news.
They smashed faces in the parking lot. They smashed faces in the middle of the hallway. In fact, I can’t think of a damn place — in clear sight of Matty (Beau Mirchoff), no less — that they didn’t smash faces in. The worst offense, though, was kissing on their way into Jenna’s house, where, of course, everyone was waiting to surprise the birthday girl.
While Lacey (Nikki DeLoach) got the best reaction line — an incredible “oh, s**t” callback — Matty definitely had the winning face. And by winning, I mean the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. This, my friends, is the look of complete and total heartbreak:
Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) was, once again, caught in the middle of Jenna’s lies; but with each new secret she accepted, she had to make room by pushing an old secret out — like that she has a yeast infection, and that someone at school doesn’t have pubes. Jake (Brett Davern) was understandably weirded out by that first one.
Mob Money, Mob Problems
Ming (Jessica Lu) began the hour living large, coasting through the hallways as the proud head of the Asian Mafia, her golden Hollywood” curls bouncing with each step. But by the end, she was mad conflicted, forced to choose between her old boyfriend Henry and her position in the mob.
She made it surprisingly easy on herself by choosing both — and basically just telling Henry to shut up, wear a tracksuit and deal with her. (Why do I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Becca?)
