How did you get involved with Pepsi and Complex to debut your new music?
MF – They loved my recent records and wanted to something really cool. So we talked and had some ideas and that is when the video materialized. It was amazing! It was a joy to work with them all steps of the way.
What does the video and song bring to your career now?
MF – I am in a transition, I am free to experiment and write and have fun making music and not be on a time line. I can now just be an artist. People are loving the song and the video and Cold Piece is a throwback to what I loved with the nineties. Its a great song that will be complimented by my other music.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
MF – Stevie Wonder and Adele. I would love to collaborate with them. I would love to work with Miguel. Its about the art and integrity of the song, I would want the collaborations to be epic.
Would you ever want to mentor or judge on something like The Voice or The X Factor?
MF – I would! I feel like I have a really good perspective and handle on the music industry for young women. Its important to share the knowledge and experience. I had a great team to educate me, so I feel like I would like to do that. I would keep it real.
What is your definition of a powerful and influential woman in music?
MF – I think that more then ever we have woman doing great things in all fields but in music you have to be fearless! Someone that will not allow anyone todispel her brand or company. I feel like she needs to fight for what she believes in and do it a respectable fashion to make the great decisions needed. And you should also be able to do that in a great pair of heels!
