Paying homage to ‘Saved By The Bell’ was the smartest move Elizabeth could have made. Are you pulling for her to win?
I’m not saying I willed this to happen, but on Sept. 4, I wrote about how Dancing with the Stars would bring about the comeback Elizabeth Berkley has been waiting for since Showgirls — and look what’s happening now! With partner Val Chmerkovskiy by her side Oct. 14, Elizabeth boldly recreated her infamous “I’m So Excited” scene from the caffeine pill episode of Saved by the Bell, and now she’s all anyone can talk about.
We knew the reenactment was coming — Elizabeth, as well as some of her former Bayside classmates, had been tweeting about it for days — but nothing could prepare viewers for how epic the actual performance would be. The dancing duo went above and beyond fans’ expectations, having “Jessie’s” entire bedroom reconstructed for an unforgettable sketch, in which Val stepped into the shoes of (a curiously brunette) Zack Morris.
“I’m so excited! I’m so excited! I’m so excited! I’m so… ready,” Elizabeth said to the camera, adjusting her famous line ever-so-slightly from “I’m so… scared.”
And you know what? I’m also “ready.” Ready to see Elizabeth win Dancing with the Stars!
Elizabeth Berkley Looks Amazing On ‘DWTS’
Another thing that really blew my mind during Elizabeth’s performance was how incredible she looked. Seriously, does the Saved by the Bell cast ever age? Before the dance, when Elizabeth was chatting with former co-star Mario Lopez, I could have sworn I was watching Jessie Spano and A.C. Slater in an episode from 1991.
It was reminiscent of the time Mark-Paul Gosselaar stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2009, looking as if he hadn’t aged a day since playing Zack in the early ’90s. And have you seen what “Kelly” (Tiffani Thiessen) looks like today? Yowza.
Honestly, it’s good to see the cast of such a huge show still doing well decades down the line. (No one ask me about Screech.)
