Adrian has had to deal with an incredible amount of devastation in his life, but he has always overcome it. Now that tragedy has struck again — harder than ever — with his son, 2, dying on Oct. 11 from a brutal beating, fans from all over the world are taking to Twitter to show their support and admiration for this grieving but unbreakable athlete.
“#PrayForAP” is the hashtag and meme that has been gaining momentum on Twitter in the wake of Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son’s death, caused by a horrific beating allegedly at the hands of the child’s mother’s boyfriend. But the point of the message is not to mourn, but to remind us of Adrian’s indefatigable spirit and to help him pull through this terrible tragedy.
Fans Show Adrian Peterson Support With ‘PrayForAP’ Meme
A.P. may be the best running back in the NFL, but it took hard work, unimaginable strength and persistence to get there. The picture that is being re-tweeted at a furious pace along with the “#PrayForAP” hashtag is a simple message documenting all of the devastatingly hard times Adrian has had to overcome in his life.
His older brother and best fried was killed by a Drunk Driver 5 feet from him when he was 7 years old. His father was arrested and sent to prison when he was 13. He broke his collarbone his junior year in college. His half brother was murdered in 2007 the night before his NFL combine debut. He tore two ligaments in his knee in 2011. His 2 year old son was beaten to death YESTERDAY by another man. And he wants to play tomorrow for his team. Adrian Peterson is on a completely different level, mentally, physically, emotionally. He’s more than an MVP of the National Football League. He’s an inspiration. #PrayForAP #CarpeDiem #Respect
We couldn’t have said it any better. It is unbelievable and extremely unfair how much sorrow Adrian has been forced to deal with in the 28 years of his life, but time and time again, he has proven that he has the spirit to come out of it a better person.
The tragic death of his son may be the worst thing he has ever had to face, but there is no doubt that he will survive.
Adrian Peterson Taking The Field In Honor Of His Son
And by surviving and taking the field with the Minnesota Vikings when they play the Carolina Panthers at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 13, he is honoring his slain son the best way he can.
Exhibiting that strength and serving as an inspiration to so many others is actually a great way to keep the memory of his fallen two-year-old alive.
A.P. has also proven not just how strong he is, but how humble he is too. Before the “#PrayForAP” meme even took off, he took to Twitter to thank everyone for their love and support in this difficult time:
God Bless everyone and thank u so much.
