Matt McCann‘s struggles with drug addiction have been well chronicled on Teen Mom 3 — but when Alex Sekella got a call about her daughter Arabella‘s dad overdosing right before he was supposed to move into a sober home, the scary situation escalated. Matt got brutally honest on Twitter, explaining exactly what happened.
Matt opened up with his fans and critics on Twitter, clearing up all of the confusion and misinformation that he heard about his drug overdose story. On episode 7 of Teen Mom 3, Matt told his counselor that he was late to his appointment with her because he was very sick and went to the hospital. He also told his counselor that he was sober off of all drugs and would be able to pass the drug test required to get into the sober home and stand a chance at gaining some custody of his daughter. He tweeted:

Matt explained that his mom called 911 when she found him lying on the floor unresponsive. His troubles weren’t over after his health was in the clear. Matt admitted he got a $150 fine and court fees for being found with a “needle, used dope bag, and some rolling papers.” He realized that he was lucky because the charges could have been upward of $2500 in fines and probation.
On Teen Mom 3, we see Alex working several jobs in order to be able to financially provide for her daughter. She wants to gain sole custody of Arabella, arranging only supervised visits with Matt. Matt explained that he is now several months sober and is trying to regain some custody of Arabella.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Are you surprised that Matt admitted that he overdosed?
