Well, NCIS fans, the time has come. Cote de Pablo makes her final appearance, for now, as Special Agent Ziva David on the show’s Oct. 1 episode. With her story all wrapped(ish), Cote’s character will board a plane and fly out of our living rooms for the foreseeable future — but not before sharing an epic lip-lock with Tony (Michael Weatherly.) I hope you all have tissues handy.
Though Ziva was confusingly absent from the season 11 premiere — a fact that went neither unnoticed nor forgiven by fans — she’ll be front-and-center for her big farewell episode, appropriately titled “Past, Present And Future.”
Ziva was a fan-favorite character from the moment she joined the show in season three — largely because of her chemistry with Tony — so adjusting to her departure will be understandably difficult for long-time viewers. Still, CBS is hopeful that fans will stick with its high-rated staple, and that they’ll welcome Ziva’s supposed replacement with open arms.
Former Sopranos actress Emily Wickersham has been cast as Bishop, HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine reports, a smart-and-sexy new agent who will first appear in November. Though she’s only definitively slated for a three-episode reoccurrence at this point, the site notes that her deal contains a series regular option.
As for Cote’s next move as an actress, that remains anyone’s guess. But whatever her next role may be, you can bet she’ll give it her all.
“Leaving NCIS was not planned, so there is no plan,” she told TV Guide. “I need to get really excited about something, because for eight years, I was really excited about this character. I don’t want to start anything unless it’s like that.”
It sounds like Cote loves Ziva just as much her fans do, and that’s something you can’t help but respect.
