Members of this Long Island, NY., community tell HollywoodLife.com that they are scared, as local streets and schools are locked down, while a killer is on the loose. A 63-year-old Asian man, reportedly shot two employees near the Roosevelt Field Mall on Sept.25, and then he fled the scene in his white Honda Pilot.
We told you that terrified shoppers were fleeing for their lives, after a gunman started shooting around 10:50 A.M., killing one person and injuring another. The mall is currently on lockdown, as well as all schools in Garden City.
“This is so scary,”a local resident who wished to be unidentified told us. “I was leaving the grocery store this morning and I saw multiple helicopters over the mall.”
HollywoodLife.com told you that helicopters were flying overhead, and dozens of police officers arrived to the scene, as they searched for the suspect.
“Garden City is a very safe, affluent community,” another local resident told us. “I would never imagine something like this happening in our town. Everyone is friendly and it’s incredibly tight-knit. I’m shocked.”
The superintendent of all the local schools, Dr. Robert Feirsen, said: “We are holding all the students in the buildings at this time. We are in lockout in all public schools in Garden City.”
We told you that the gunman has been described as 63-years-old and is a former employee of Safe Energy which is next door to the mall.
The man, whose motive is not known, is said to be wearing a brown or gray jacket, and be between 6’0″ and 6’3″ feet tall. In case you live in the area, something to point out, the registration on the car is FMA 3648.
We told you that the mall, which is quite large, with over 270 stores, is about 30 minutes from New York City.
