After Kendrick slammed Drake and other veteran rappers on his controversial ‘Control’ verse, Drake seems to be firing back with some vicious words of his own in his new single ‘The Language.’ Is he really dissing Kendrick on the track?
If we’ve learned anything from Chris Brown and Drake‘s longtime rivalry, it’s that Drake never forgets a diss. The “Hold On We’re Going Home” singer appears to be lashing out at Kendrick Lamar in “The Language,” off his recently leaked album, Nothing Was The Same. In the new track, Drake slams those talking smack about him behind his back. While he doesn’t mention anyone specifically, it sounds like he could be sending a message to Kendrick. Keep reading for all the details!
Drake: ‘The Language’ — Dissing Kendrick Lamar On ‘Nothing Was The Same’ Track?
Drake, 26, wastes no time taking shots at someone many believe to be Kendrick.
“I don’t know why they been lying but your shit is not that inspiring…F**k any ni**a that’s talkin’ that sh** just to get a reaction,” Drake says in the new song.
Of course, Drake could be reacting to Kendrick’s verse on Big Sean‘s “Control” song, where Kendrick dissed many veterans rappers in the game, including Drake. It certainly seemed like Kendrick was trying to get a rise out of people with his rhymes, so Drake’s lyrics seem to apply there.
Kendrick Lamar Disses Drake In ‘Control’ Song
Kendrick called out a lot of people on his “Control” verse, rapping, “I’m usually homeboys with the same n****s i’m rhymin wit/But this is hip hop and them n****s should know what time it is/And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron‘, Tyler, Mac Miller/I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n****s/Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n****s.”
Drake insists, however, that he doesn’t care what Kendrick or any other rapper says about him.
“I didn’t really have anything to say about [Kendrick’s verse],” Drake says in an interview with Billboard magazine. “It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”
Well, it sure sounds like Drake has already visited the topic in “The Language.” Will Kendrick respond? We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
