How rude! Miss New York Nina Davuluri was allegedly overhead describing Miss America Mallory Hagan as ‘fat,’ according to a new report. We certainly hope the nasty allegations are not true.
After winning the Miss New York title on July 16, Nina Davuluri was reportedly taped calling the current Miss America Mallory Hagan, 24, “fat as f**k”. Nina insists she never said anything nasty but apparently the tape suggests otherwise. Read on for all the details.
Miss America Is ‘Fat,’ Says Miss New York Nina Davuluri
Talk about jealousy and insecurity! Nina allegedly made the comments in her Staten Island hotel room after being crowned Miss New York in July, according to the New York Post.
Nina, who gave herself the nickname Miss Diversity, “invited friends back to her hotel room after her win. A girl in the next room overheard their conversation, and was so offended she decided to tape part of it,” a source told the newspaper. “A friend of Davuluri was supposedly heard making racist remarks, and Davuluri is allegedly heard on the tape blasting Miss America, saying, ‘Mallory’s fat as [bleep].'”
The recording has been making the rounds among pageant contestants and officials, and Nina’s comments were even brought to the board of the Miss America pageant.
Pageant organizers claim that Nina has done nothing wrong.
In an interesting twist, before Nina was crowned Miss New York, she revealed to The Post-Standard that she herself struggled with her weight and with bulimia, saying she detests the word “skinny.” Before winning the Miss New York title, Nina admitted to losing 60 pounds.
We’re not sure exactly what happened, but it does sound like Nina has some issues with weight, so the rumors could be true.
Miss New York Apologizes To Miss America Via Facebook
Desperate to keep her name clean, Nina took to Facebook to express her apologies to Mallory. Maybe she should have thought about doing this in private before being called out!
“I want to apologize for the awful statements made by people in my room,” Nina wrote on her Facebook page.”There were people who claimed to be my supporters and said things I never agreed with, nor supported…I was never a part of the words or statements that may have been hurtful…I’m sorry if someone said something that was inappropriate.”
Even if it’s true that it was others making the rude remarks about Mallory, Miss New York should have put an end to it right then and there. That would have been the classy thing to do.
“The situation was investigated fully back in July and there is no validity to the story whatsoever,” a rep for Miss America explained. “Miss New York spoke to Mallory Hagan to let her know there was no validity and to apologize if she was offended in any way.”
We hope these two beauty queens have really made peace because they will both be attending the Miss America pageant on Sept. 15 in Atlantic City. How awkward!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Is it obnoxious when women gossip about other women? Would YOU speak up if someone else was putting down another woman because of her weight? Let us know!
