We’ve had backstage access at New York Fashion Week to interview the hair, makeup, nails and skincare teams so we can bring the secrets of the runway straight to you! Check out the Milly look below.
The girls at Milly‘s Spring Summer 2014 show on September 11 looked fresh faced and trendy and were wearing just the right amount of makeup. On the seventh day of fashion week, the model’s faces were irritated and red — here’s how the team kept the girls glowing on the runway!
Milly Runway — Nails By Butter London
Katie Jane Hughes, butter LONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador, created the white half-moon mani and spoke to HollywoodLife.com backstage about the look:
I love creating nail art on a nude base because it gives the illusion that the nail art is floating on the nail. While we saw this trend a lot for the spring runways, I do think it’s a totally wearable trend for fall!
To do it, I use a thin Sally Hansen brush and draw a line on the cuticle. Then I mirror the line creating the half moon shape and fill it in.
To get the exact look, use LONDON Nail Foundation as a nude base color. Use Cotton Buds to create the white half moon at the cuticle.
Skincare By Joanna Vargas
“At this point, there is inflammation on the skin. The key is to use my Daily Serum – it stimulates the lymphatic system and oxygenates the skin, giving models a glow,” Joanna told us backstage. “I used my Daily Hydrating Cream with zinc — it controls oils and tells the skin to stop producing excess oil. Next, we used the Rejuvenating Serum as a face oil, so you’ll see lots of glossy cheekbones and sheen on eyelids. It’s amazing and glowing on the runway!”
Makeup by Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com
Romy said she loves the Joanna skincare that was used under the makeup and admits to using the Daily Serum herself! The overall look was based on a girl with her hair up leaving a steam room and then applying a fresh lip.
“We lined the inside of the lips with Kevyn Aucion’s The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Cerise and then dabbed with blush,” Romy told us. Blush on your lips is an easy way to “double” your makeup drawer, creating fresh, unique colors! For extra hydration, they used The Sensual Lip Balm.
“The dewy, glossy cheeks were created by using the serum,” Romy told HollywoodLife.com.
