The designer sent models down the runway in a slinky sea of draped and floaty chiffons for an international nightlife-inspired collection — the bias cuts, low backs and big hair made us wish that we could still go dancing at Studio 54!
Reem Acra‘s 2014 Spring 2014 collection debuted on Sept. 9 at New York Fashion Week and it left us feeling like we are going to have a very sexy spring. There were a few daytime dresses in poppy-red and coral, with some houndstooth prints that gave us a fall feel as well. The showstoppers, however, were the signature chiffon and charmeuse evening gowns that created dramatic movement, giving a stunning entrance and exit — and isn’t that what every girl wants?
Reem Acra Spring 2014 Collection:
Reem is the queen of clingy, statuesque gowns that are seen all over red carpets, and this stunning collection was no different. The exquisite and electric flowing gowns sauntered down the runway to Daft Punk’s “Lose Yourself to Dance,” and we couldn’t sit still. Models rocked teased-out afros with glowing faces and coral lips. The gowns were mostly bias cut or tiered, some hand-draped. The collection showed beautifully embroidered inky blacks and metallics, giving us lots of bare backs and thigh-high slits. Every look exuded a slinky nightlife appeal, even the daytime dresses!
We’re positive we’ll see gowns in this collection worn beautifully by Taylor Swift, 23, and Selena Gomez, 21, who love wearing Reem Acra on the red carpet. We think Taylor would make a beeline for her black silk charmeuse halter dress, with draping and embroidery, and add minimalistic jewelry and delicate sandals. She’s all about the deep-V halter gowns on the red carpet recently. Selena would look fabulous and exude old Hollywood glamour in the gold draped bias cut column gown with red lips. These dresses were practically made for them!
Take a look at some of our favorite gowns and daytime dresses from the collection and let us know what you think of the line!
