The designer brought a boho chic desert lady to life, right on the runway for her Spring 2014 collection.
Earthy tones, scarf-like silhouettes, plunging necklines, and low-rise leather belts were just a few of the elements that came to life on the runway in Donna Karan‘s Spring 2014 collection, which showed during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 9. The designer transported those in attendance to a faraway land, one in which a seriously chic desert woman roams around in a broken-in leather hat. From flowing maxis to tribal prints, plunging necklines, thigh-high slits and one-shoulder dresses, the boho chic collection had an effortless vibe — and there were a slew of gorgeous dresses that could easily be transformed into amazing red carpet creations for some of Donna’s celebrity fans.
Donna Karan Spring 2014 Collection:
Models came down the runway in flat leather sandals which matched the accessories perfectly. We saw wide, low-slung leather belts, leather hats, and even oversized leather jewelry incorporated into the collection. Dresses which seemed to drape as if they were made out of scarves were worn by a slew of models. While a majority of the looks were in earthy-tones we also saw tribal patterns and large, geometric prints infused in the collection.
Personally, I can’t wait to see how the celeb set will wear these looks. My guess is some will opt to rock the effortless, breezy silhouettes during the day or for more casual events, while others can dress them up with their choice of accessories. There was one plunging frock with a slit in a blue and black print that had me thinking of Naya Rivera, while an asymmetrical gown in camel seemed to be like a great choice for former face of DKNY, Ashley Greene.
