After the release of Miley Cyrus‘ twerk-tastic “We Can’t Stop,” there’s really no telling what one can expect from her music videos, and fans were waiting with bated breath for the Sept. 9 release of the video for her follow-up single “Wrecking Ball.” But did the video live up to the hype, created largely by Miley herself on Twitter?
That’s up to you to decide, but one thing’s for sure: this is definitely Miley’s most emotional (and most naked) music video yet. (Excluding “The Climb,” though as we all know, Miley wishes anything prior to “We Can’t Stop” didn’t exist.)
Not content with simply releasing her new video for her fans’ enjoyment, Miley hopes to go the extra mile and beat her own record. “We Can’t Stop,” the first video off Miley’s new album Bangerz, reached 100 million views faster than any video in VEVO history — and she’s hoping to demolish that record with “Wrecking Ball.”
To her credit, Miley has done quite a bit of leg work in publicizing her new video’s release:
“How should I get Wrecking Ball to beat WCS record?” she tweeted Sept. 7. “Should I release track list of #bangerz ???”
(You can imagine the hoards of Smilers that responded to that tweet.)
She followed that up with several more promotional tweets during the next few days, including: “#wreckingballmondayonvevo,” “#tomorrowwreckingballonvevo,” and eventually, “#wreckingballonvevotoday.”
Finally, she also added in that the video is directed Terry Richardson, who is notorious for his sexy photo shoots.
HollywoodLifers, did “Wrecking Ball” live up to your expectations, or were you disappointed after all that hype? After watching Miley’s new video, cast your vote below, then drop a comment with your full review.
