Lena Dunham and more stars are giving Charlie & Dakota their official tweet approval — but do they have yours?
Certain fans may be disappointed by the big Fifty Shades Of Grey casting reveal — Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson snagged the lead roles, in case you missed that — but Charlie and Dakota are getting major support from their fellow actors. Their former co-stars and friends have taken to Twitter to defend E. L. James‘ polarizing decision.
Former True Blood baddie Robert Kazinsky, who also co-starred with Charlie in 2013’s Pacific Rim, tweeted., “I don’t think I’ve worked with a harder working or more humble actor than Charlie Hunnam, he will be great as Christian grey.”
Strangely, artist Jermaine Dupri also chimed in — but not really with his thoughts. He just wanted to know how his Twitter followers felt about the casting:
“Charlie Hunnam tapped as Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ casts: LADIE LIFERS IS THIS WHO YOU IMAGINED…”
Lena Dunham & More Joke About Casting
Other celebs chose to use the casting news as an opportunity to make jokes.
“Congrats to Charlie Hunnam on the 50 Shades of Grey role,” former Office star Rainn Wilson tweeted. “It was a tough fight but the actor with the longer hair won. #bummed”
Girls star Lena Dunham added, “I lost the role in 50 Shades of Grey so you won’t be hearing from me for awhile.”
Can you imagine if Rainn and Lena played Christian and Anastasia?
(Maybe in the remake, guys.)
Anything To Add, E. L. James?
And what does E. L. have to say about all the post-casting reactions? She tweeted this, shortly after breaking the news herself:
To all the supporters, lovers and haters – thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you.
