‘Breaking Dawn — Part 2’ was The Biggest winner by far at the Teen Choice Awards on August 11 with seven nods. However, I bet you didn’t know it, since it wasn’t even whispered about once! Don’t you think either Rob or Kristen should have gone to accept the awards, and to thank their fans?
The Twilight series may be over but that doesn’t mean that either Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson shouldn’t still thank their millions of fans for voting for Breaking Dawn — Part 2, which led the film to the top of seven categories at the Teen Choice Awards.
‘Twilight’ Stars Should Have Said One Final Thank You
Breaking Dawn — Part 2 won Choice Movie: Romance and Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, plus Kristen was honored with two awards for Choice Movie Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Choice Movie Actress: Romance.
And let me point out, one more time, that the TCAs are fan-awarded. So, it’s the millions and millions of devoted Twi-hards who both propelled Breaking Dawn — Part 2 to be THE biggest winner of the night and to a $832 million global box office.
That’s not nothing. Twilight fans are arguably THE most obsessed and devoted film fan brigade ever.
Was Cheating Episode The Reason They Didn’t Attend?
So could both Kristen and Rob have shunned the awards because it brought back bad memories? After all, the awards were held on July 22nd last year, a day before they both would have been notified by Us Weekly through their reps ,about the photos of Kristen cheating.
The TCAs, which they enthusiastically attended on behalf of Twilight in 2009 and 2012, could have inadvertently brought back painful memories of the incident which eventually led to that final split. You think?
The photos and the story about Kristen and Rupert Sanders, were published online on July 24, stunning their fans — and the world.
No one — least of all Rob — had suspected a gigantic problem in their relationship before being notified about the pics, especially because Kristen seemed so normal, including at the TCAs when she and Rob were sighted affectionately holding hands backstage, then joking around on stage with Taylor.
The USWeekly cover story was jaw dropping. Don’t you remember being completely blown away by the affair revelation?
Well, bad memories could be a reasonable excuse for ignoring loyal fans.
After all, just because the Twilight series has ended and all the DVDs are out, does that mean that neither of the franchise’s two huge stars should clear their schedules for a final thank you and farewell to their fans?
Kristen & Rob: Both Were Available For TCA Appearance
Rob was certainly available to attend in LA. He was photographed out having a great time at an after party for It Felt Like Love the night before, on Aug. 10.
Also there was Rob’s good friend, Michelle Rodriquez and the original Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke.
Meanwhile, Kristen has also been in Whittier, CA — only 20 miles from LA — filming Camp X-Ray. She worked Saturday, so it may have been tougher for her to make an appearance than Rob, but she did personally win two of the Breaking Dawn awards.
Now, I understand that Breaking Dawn — Part 2‘s film studio may not have had a huge interest in promoting the movie at this point and Rob and Kristen’s promotional contracts may be over, but does that end their own personal obligation or affection for their fans?
Appearing at the TCAs would have been a perfect opportunity for either Rob or Kristen — I’m not suggesting the exes appear together — to say a final thank you.
‘Twilight’ Sky Rocketed Both Kristen & Rob’s Careers
After all, the Twilight series turned them both into huge stars. Before Twilight, Kristen was a respected teen-turning-adult actress who was well-reviewed in Into the Wild and on deck to shoot On the Road, once it secured funding.
Rob had a minor role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and had tried his hand dismally at modeling.
Now, thanks to Twilight, both command lead roles with Kristen successfully starring as an action princess in Snow White & the Huntsman, now ok’d for a sequel after grossing $396 million worldwide.
Meanwhile, Rob has been able to focus on the kind of challenging indie roles he loves in Cosmopolis, The Rover, and Maps to the Stars.
His biggest wide audience film, Water for Elephants with Reese Witherspoon didn’t set off box office fire, but he still has a full plate of films ahead.
Now, neither Rob nor Kristen would be in the position to pick and chose their next projects if it weren’t for the Twilight franchise and its’ intensely devoted fans.
Plus, thanks to Twilight both have become wealthy beyond belief! Kristen is the third highest paid actress in 2013 with another $22 million under her belt, while Rob earned $26.5 million in 2012!
The Cast Owes It To The Fans
Both Rob and Kristen can easily do whatever they want for the rest of their lives, thanks to Twilight fans.
And the fans showed their love one more time by voting Rob, Kristen, Taylor, Kellan and the film to the top of seven categories at the TCAs. Just because the franchise is over, its’ fans haven’t forgotten.
That’s why it would have been great if either Rob or Kristen had decided to push personal bad memories aside and think purely about choosing the moment for a final public thanks to the millions of Twi-hards who propelled the franchise and their own careers into the stratosphere.
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Should Rob or Kristen have made an appearance purely for their fans? Let me know!
