After everything that has happened over the past four and a half seasons — the exploding tortoise, Gus Fring’s fiery death, or the death of Mike — we can’t imagine how Breaking Bad will top itself during the final eight episodes. However, Bryan Cranston tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that the forthcoming episodes will be mind-numbingly shocking!
On the carpet, before the final season’s premiere at Lincoln Center in NYC on July 31, Bryan told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he’s very happy with the way the series ends.
[I’m] very happy. It’s very Breaking Bad. And the truth is, I’m happy that [creator] Vince [Gilligan] got to write the ending that he wanted to write.
But don’t worry about waiting until the end to experience all the suspense. It kickstarts in the first episode and doesn’t falter. “You’ll be shocked by everything. That’s the glory of Breaking Bad. As much as Vince lays the groundwork for a logical conclusion, it’s still surprising. Even to us, the ones who know the show so well. It still surprises us when we read these scripts. [Vince] is a master,” he adds.
At the end of season five, part one, Skyler (Anna Gunn) persuaded Walt to leave the meth business. Hank (Dean Norris) appeared to have realized that Walt is Heisenberg. And even after killing Mike, blowing up Gus and essentially wrapping up all the loose ends, Walt still finds the idea of selling meth to the Czech Republic — for the prospect of making millions — appealing.
While we’re certainly excited about the final eight episodes, we dread the day Breaking Bad comes to an end. Especially considering that Bryan has no interest in appearing on any potential Breaking Bad spinoffs — he’s taking a break from television!
That would be fantastic, but I think I’m going to step away from television for a while. After 14 years of television with Malcolm In The Middle — even longer if you include Seinfeld — I think it’s time for me to be less ubiquitous and hide out in the theater for a while.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited for the final eight episodes?
