The ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star tells us she wants her country album to feel ‘genuine.’
2013 is a big year for Lucy Hale. Not only does her ABC Family hit Pretty Little Liars continues to shatter its own ratings records, but she’s also releasing her first album! After signing to Hollywood Records in June 2012, Lucy immediately got to work on a country album, one she’s already being honored for at the 2013 Young Hollywood Awards. For her ability to transcend TV and cross over into the music world, Lucy will receive the Crossover Of The Year award!
HollywoodLife.com spoke with Lucy in Jan. 2013 about what to expect from the album. Here’s what she told us:
When I signed the deal, I was like, ‘I want to be hands-on with every song on the album,’ because — especially with country music — people will buy it or they won’t. There’s no middle ground. I just want it to be as genuine as possible. … We’ve tweaked the lyrics [of every song] because I’d never say [that lyric] or that [lyric] didn’t happen. I just want people to believe every word I’m singing about.
Be sure to watch Lucy receive her Young Hollywood Award during the ceremony’s live telecast, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. on The CW!
