Jayma Mays, who plays high school counselor Emma Pillsbury on Glee, confirmed that the upcoming season of the series will be her last.
“This is going to be my last season,” Jayma, 34, told Access Hollywood on the blue carpet at the Smurfs 2 premiere in Hollywood on July 27.
Emma, who married Will (Matthew Morrison) on the season 4 finale, was asked what changes would be coming to the show, especially considering Cory Monteith’s recent death.
“I’m finishing up this season, so I’m not sure what direction and who’s coming on and who’s not,” she said.
We can’t imagine Will without Emma, so we wonder if Matthew will also leave the series at the end of season five.
As previously reported by HollywoodLife.com, original players Mark Salling, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. will not return to the series in season five (Boo!). However, American Idol alum Adam Lambert will be joining the cast.
While Jayma is leaving to pursue a different role in CBS’ upcoming sitcom, The Millers, she’s not ruling out the possibility of a return to Glee.
“I would love to [return as a special guest],” she said.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you sad to see Jayma go?
