The sad rumors are true. ‘SNL’ fans were heartbroken when Bill Hader and Fred Armisen announced they were leaving the show last year, and now Jason has also called it quits.
Saturday Night Live star and funnyman Jason Sudeikis confirmed on July 24 that he is indeed leaving the show after ten years!
Jason Sudeikis Leaving SNL — Confirms To Letterman: ‘Not Coming Back’
Say it ain’t so! When Jason appeared on Late Show with David Letterman July 24, he promoted his new comedy film We’re The Millers. But when the topic of SNL came up, no one was laughing.
“I’m definitely done,” Jason told Dave. “I’m gonna leave. I’m not coming back next fall.”
Since SNL is currently on break, Jason says it feels normal for him to be taking time off — for now. But he is worried that come August, it’ll hit him!
“You’ll start to get that itch probably in August where all these sketch ideas will show up and I’ll be like, ‘Well, can I make this sketch idea last 90 minutes and turn it into a movie?!’ Probably not,” he laughed to Dave. “It’s been really really amazing, I was very very lucky.”
Well, Jason — we were too. We’ll miss him so much — he was one of the most hilarious comics on the show. Jason’s SNL co-stars Bill Hader and Fred Armison both announced they were leaving the show as well last year. It’s the end of an era!
But we’re thinking (hoping) all three funnymen will make return appearances down the road.
Maybe Jason’s fiancée, Olivia Wilde, will join, too!
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Was it time for Jason to leave or are you sad to see him go? Let us know!
