Let me preface this entire post by saying that I’m a rational human being. I’m able to separate real-life actors from their on-screen personas, but even still, something about seeing Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev together July 20 at Comic-Con was just the bee’s knees. Regardless of what’s happening in their personal lives, it was encouraging to see them engaging with fans and carrying on as normal. But then again, what’s ‘normal’ about The Vampire Diaries?
“[Ian and Nina] are going to be filming with each other quite a bit, so being around each other at Comic-Con at the panel and different events was not a problem at all,” a source close to the couple told HollywoodLife.com. “They might not be dating, but they respect each other quite a bit, and that’s exactly how they have approached everything. It’s not like Comic Con was a surprise to them.”
Nearly everyone from the cast turned up for the panel and signing, including Nina, Ian, Paul Wesley, Candice Accola, Kat Graham, executive producer Julie Plec and co-executive producer Caroline Dries. Sadly, Zach Roerig and Steven R. McQueen couldn’t make it — presumably because they had some very important bro-ing out to do.
Damon & Elena Will Be ‘Happy’ In Season 5
And things are looking up for Ian and Nina on screen, as Julie once again confirmed that Damon and Elena will finally be “happy” when The Vampire Diaries returns this fall. During the show’s panel at Comic-Con, she revealed that they’ll try to make their long-distance relationship work while Elena is off at college and Damon stays behind with Jeremy in Mystic Falls.
Of course, I can see Silas finding a way to spoil the couple’s happiness; if anyone can do it, it’s Silas.
Ian Somerhalder’s Messages To Fans
