Chris spread the love in Compton, Calif. on July 20 as his Symphonic Love Foundation donated more than a thousand pairs of shoes to underprivileged children as part of new initiative of Chris’ called WE US. Read on for all the AMAZING details!
Chris Brown is the gift that keeps on giving. The singer spent July 20 serving the needs of disadvantaged children, going to Campanella Park in Compton, Calif. where he gave more than a thousand pairs of sneakers to underprivileged and at-risk children. HollywoodLife.com was there for the incredibly generous celebration!
Chris Brown Gives Back
Chris put a smile on every single child’s face by working with his Symphonic Love Foundation to create WE US (Walk Everywhere In Unity’s Shoes) and give away over one thousand pairs of brand new Reebok Classics to Compton’s at-risk children. The message he wants to convey with WE US is simple — reminding young, at-risk kids that whenever and wherever they walk, they are a united community.
Growing up in the “hood,” Chris says, connects him to many of those faces he sees in Compton. He says he believes it’s his “duty” to give back to those less fortunate.
“I grew up as one of those kids who was brought up in gangs and had to be one of the bad kids so to speak,” Chris, 24, tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “Being able to see the looks on these kid’s faces,” Chris says as he begins to get choked up, “it’s just about uplifting and bringing everybody together.”
Chris Brown Stands In Line For Food While Talking To Compton Youths
While Chris was generous to take some time to talk to HollywoodLife.com, he spent most of his day interacting with all of the little children he was helping, as well as their parents and other members of the community.
In fact at one point, Chris flat out ignored his team when they told him to come inside for media photo ops, choosing instead to get as much time with the kids as possible. In classic Breezy style — which we LOVE — he walked outside, and literally stood in line for a plate of soul food just like everyone else! He was simply basking and taking in all the community had to offer and we could really tell he was truly grateful and humbled.
Later that day, Chris brought his WE US program to The Jungles, another neighborhood in the Los Angeles area to spread this amazing message even more.
Chris, we at HollywoodLife.com are very proud of you, sir. Good looking out!
