Cory Monteith: ‘I’m Really Happy’ — Final Interview Before Tragic Death

With Lea Michele by his side, Cory expressed his gratitude for everything going on in his life.

While the passing of Cory Monteith is unquestionably tragic, it might be of some comfort to know that his final interview revealed him to be in great spirits. The Glee star, 31, spoke with E! News on June 8 at the annual Chrysalis Ball — and he couldn’t stop gushing about all of the incredible things going on in his life.

“I’m just happy to be on the show,” Cory told the news organization, with Lea Michele standing proudly by his side. “I’m really, really happy to be coming back. It’s really good.”

Cory’s Final Act On ‘Glee’

Cory was, of course, referring to Glee. When he checked into rehab in April 2013, it forced him to miss the final few episodes of his hit Fox series. In fact, a source close to production told HollywoodLife.com that “Matthew Morrison was written into new scenes at the last minute to make up for Cory’s absence from the show.”

When we last left Finn, he had just returned to McKinley High School after a brief stint in college. He also finally made peace with Will after kissing Emma (Jayma Mays) and making a mess out of their friendship. The only thing fans didn’t get to see — and now, sadly, never will — was Finn’s long-awaited reunion with Rachel, whom Finn had previously referred to as his “future wife.”
