When Ryan Davis, former GameSpot editor and co-founder of Giant Bomb, died July 3 at age 34, video game industry analysts, game enthusiasts, journalists and games publishers took to Twitter to express their sense of loss. But no tweets were as touching or heartbreaking as those of Ryan’s widow, Anna Davis, who he married less than a week before his death.
Ryan, who co-hosted shows such as Time Trotters and On the Spot, died of unknown causes less than a week after his wedding. The day after Ryan died, Anna posted a photo of fireworks to Twitter, with the message, “Wish you were here.”
On July 8, she tweeted, “I hate waking up and feeling…”
Anna seems to be going through some intense emotions, but she is trying to be positive in the midst of this tragedy.
“Thanks for ALL the support everyone,” she tweeted July 8. “It’s been a LOOONG few days and no end in sight. Not alone- virtually OR physically- for anyone worried.”
It’s good to know she’s not alone. On July 9, Anna had a very special visitor. She tweeted a photo of a dog alongside the message, “First time I’ve been able to lay in our bed since it happened. Timmy thought I needed company.”
Anna’s followers are also expressing their sadness and support via Twitter, sending their condolences to her.
One follower, @FartToContinue tweeted, “@EnemyNanner What a cool guy. =(. I’ll remember @taswell as a light hearted guy with a strong resolution of spirit. Deepest condolences =/”
Anna also tweeted, “Humor=armor” on July 9. It’s good to know that she can still laugh during this difficult time. It sounds like Ryan would have wanted that for her.
