The road to everlasting love definitely has its ups, downs and splits. Prince William and Kate’s major breakup before reuniting and tying the knot, means there’s hope for Jelena, Robsten and Chris/Rihanna fans!
Prince William & Kate Middleton Make Love Last
Yet here they are today — madly in love, mutually supportive and beyond ecstatic about the baby which Kate will deliver in the next few days.
All of which goes to prove that couples CAN have what appears to be a MAJOR breakup and can still go on to reunite romantically and live happily together.
In the past couple of months, some of young Hollywood’s most established and loving couples have split — some supposedly for good, and others for days or weeks, before reuniting.
And while it seems at the moment that there’s no hope for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to ever try a round three or Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to stay together for a long time – the Kate/Will breakup and makeup demonstrates that breakups can be deceiving.
Kate Was Devastated When Prince William Broke It Off
Just listen to this! When Prince William broke up with Kate in 2007, he went out to a public night club, flirted with “countless girls,” and even stood up on a table at one point and screamed, “I’m free,” according to writer Marcia Moody, who has written a new biography of Kate Middleton, called Kate.
Now that was a pretty harsh and humiliating experience for Kate, who was still deeply in love with her prince and was devastated by being dumped.
There’s no evidence that any cheating took place on anyone’s part before this split, but nevertheless, it was a messy breakup that lasted for months, and there was no indication for some time that the pair would ever come together again.
Remember also — that there were plenty of British snobs that sniffed that Kate had no chance of marrying the prince since she was just a middle class “commoner,” any way. Those snobs were actively rooting against a romantic reunion, too.
Now, Chris Brown and Rihanna, Rob and Kristen, and Justin and Selena don’t have to deal with any of that royal snobbery nonsense, but clearly they have multiple other issues in their relationships which have pulled them apart.
Nevertheless, it’s amazing how young couples can sometimes survive adversity, passionate ups and downs, and long-term separations and still find their way back to each other.
The key to William and Kate ultimately reuniting and finding long term happiness together appears to be the fact that their relationship was ultimately built on a deeply rooted friendship.
Kate and Will had already spent four mutually supportive years together and had really come to know each other. They hadn’t just been lovers — they were best friends.
It All Begins With Friendship
Similarly, when you look at Justin and Selena, Rob and Kristen, and Chris and Rihanna — they all had deep friendships not just their romantic relationship. None of these couples were merely bed-mates.
No, they built their romances on shared experiences, interests and mutual understanding.
That’s why it’s been so hard for Justin and Selena to ever fully sever their “intense connection.” They have so much in common, from both being the children of strong, single mothers, to experiencing teen stardom and now navigating the tough step of transforming their teen careers into adult stardom.
It will be very hard for either to find another who can truly understand and empathize with their very unique situations.
How Hollywood’s Couples Can Learn From Kate & Will
Then there’s Rob and Kristen who spent almost five years together — most of them happy — and grew up together under the spotlight of the explosive success of the Twilight films.
But beyond that, they both lived low-key, “normal” lives — they loved music, reading books, scouring vintage stores, hanging out quietly at home with their dogs while Kristen cooked, and going out with their close friends.
As for Chris and Rihanna — they considered each other their “best friends,” before the terrible assault incident. But both used that awful experience to learn and grown, and eventually got back together after much counseling on both sides.
Their relationship also was deeply rooted in their shared love for music, dance, art and their mutual understanding of each others’ difficult and dysfunctional childhood experiences.
In other words — all three of these couples have had deeply meaningful relationships with each other, and that counts for a lot.
When you’ve felt that close to someone you love, it’s very difficult to completely sever that romance for good.
So just like Will and Kate, these Hollywood couples and ex-couples, may yet find their way back into each other’s arms again.
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Do you think that Jelena, Robsten or Chris and Rihanna could ever reunite for good? Let me know!
