Elisha Cuthbert, 30, and her hockey-playing boyfriend Dion Phaneuf, 28, made it official on July 6, tying the knot during an intimate ceremony held at St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
After saying their vows at the church, Elisha and Dion, who is a defenseman and captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs, then headed to his large waterfront estate, according to Us Weekly.
Elisha dished about the locale of her wedding celebration in a 2008 interview, and said it was the perfect place for the big day. “It’s such a quiet place that we can be ourselves and not get bothered too much and have a real summer away from the hustle and bustle of our lives,” the Happy Endings star told the Summerside Journal Pioneer.
The intimate, Prince Edward Island waterfront location does sound incredible — the right place for a cute Canadian couple like Elisha and Dion.
A source close to Elisha also revealed that the wedding was going to be a formal affair, according to Us. “The wedding will be in tents, and if it’s not raining, the tents will be open,” the insider revealed. “There will be fireworks while guests are eating and food trucks at midnight, courtesy of the in-laws.”
Food trucks at midnight? Wow, we wish we were invited!
Elisha and Dion have been dating since 2008. They got engaged in September 2012. And actually, they’re not the only Canadian couple to tie the knot this week — Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger said “I do” on July 1.
Congrats, Elisha and Dion!
