The rap world was saddened June 20 when news broke that up-and-coming artist Lil Snupe had been shot and killed during a visit to his hometown of Winnfield, Louisiana. Lil Snupe, whose real name was Adarren Ross, had recently been signed to Meek Mill‘s label Dream Chaser — and Meek is absolutely devastated by the loss.
“R.I.P 2 my lil fucking n***a #lilsnupe,” he tweeted June 20. “I tried everything in my power 2 get that kid out of the streets!”
He followed that emotional tweet up with another tribute the next day.
“#riplilsnupe my n***a!” Meek tweeted June 21, along with an Instagram’d picture of himself with Lil Snupe.
One of the saddest parts about Lil Snupe’s death is that the 18 year old had a really bright future, and very promising rap career, ahead of him. Lil Snupe spoke with MTV in April about the time he slipped Meek his mixtape:
He was in a van, they was gonna pull off. And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me.
So much promise!
