Kim went into labor late on June 14 after she was suffering from severe swelling, which can sometimes be a sign of the potentially deadly condition preeclampsia. Doctors decided to deliver the baby early to avoid any severe health problems, according to a new report.
When Kim Kardashian went into labor on June 14, it was an early surprise for everyone — especially boyfriend Kanye West, who had a scheduled listening party for his album Yeezus that night. Unfortunately, there were dangerous health complications that forced her into an early delivery, sources told People magazine.
Kim Kardashian’s Early Delivery: Pregnancy Complications Revealed
Kim was rushed to the hospital on June 14 after suffering from pregnancy complications, and delivered her baby on June 15 — 3 weeks earlier than expected, according to People magazine. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was experiencing severe swelling, which can be a sign of the potentially dangerous condition called preeclampsia.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Kim was suffering from preeclampsia, which is pregnancy-induced high blood pressure, the condition can be potentially dangerous. Left untreated, preeclampsia can lead to a stroke. The only cure for the dangerous condition is to deliver the baby early.
The new mom was lucky to welcome her baby in time to avoid any further serious complications, but preeclampsia is what killed beloved Downton Abbey character Sybil Crawley in early 20th century England.
Kim Kardashian: How She Handled Her Pregnancy Complications
Although the pregnancy complications would have been emotionally taxing on anyone, those closest to her reveal how well Kim handled the high stress.
“I don’t think she was scared. She was just ready,” one of Kim’s friends told People magazine.
“This was a lot to go through,” pal Robin Antin said. “I’m sure she was exhausted, but she handled it like a pro.”
Luckily, insiders revealed that Kim and her baby were both totally healthy and doing well by June 17, two days after her baby girl was born.
