Five years, 120 episodes and about a million babies after it premiered on ABC Family, The Secret Life of the American Teenager will air its series finale — appropriately titled “Thank You and Goodbye” — June 3, and HollywoodLife.com has all the scoop on Amy (Shailene Woodley) and Ricky’s (Daren Kagasoff) final walk down the hallways of Grant High School.
“The ending is unbelievable,” Daren tells us. “I think it all ended correctly. When we were informed we weren’t coming back, [creator Brenda Hampton] had to scramble to come up with an ending, and I think the way she did it was phenomenal.”
Given the cozy pictures of Amy and Ricky on the set of the finale, it’s no wonder Daren is happy with how things ended for the show’s main couple. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way.
The official description for the series finale suggests that Grace (Megan Park) will make a major, and presumably final, decision about whether or not she should be with Jack (Greg Finley):
High school graduation is finally here, prompting everyone to reminisce about how much their lives have changed over the past few years. Amy’s relationships with Ricky and Ben weigh heavily on her mind, while Grace contemplates Jack’s place in her life. Meanwhile, Adrian is ecstatic when an unexpected visitor knocks on her door.
But regardless of how the couple’s story ends, it’s not the way Megan envisioned it.
“I didn’t want this ending,” Megan tells us. “But it makes sense. I can see why they decided to do this with my character. It’s definitely, definitely not the ending I was expecting. … I was really surprised to see who everyone ends up with. It’s real, but it’s not what everybody’s going to want.”
Yikes! Sounds like Secret Life fans had better have their Kleenex boxes handy.
