New Orlean’s Shooting: 19 Injured
On May 12, shots rang out in New Orleans on the corner of Frenchman Street and North Villere Street, according to CNN. Nineteen people total were injured, according to police — including 10 men, seven women and two children. The injuries range from minor to severe, and the children suffered graze wounds at the scene.
One of the young children was a 10-year-old girl, according to the Times-Picayune. She is said to be in good condition, but other victims had to undergo surgery.
According to police, three suspects were seen fleeing the scene, and the shots were fired from different guns. Authorities described one of the suspects as an African-American male, approximately 18 to 22 years old, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. No one was taken into custody after the shooting.
New Orleans Police ‘Confident’ They Will Make Arrests
Although no one was arrested at the scene, authorities are working tirelessly to make the appropriate arrests.
“This is an extremely unusual occurrence, and we’re confident that we will make swift arrests,” Remi Braden, a police spokeswoman, told CNN.
“We’ll get them. We have good resources in the neighborhood,” Superintendent Ron Serpas said.
