Matt Lanter gives the scoop on his new, out-of-this-world series. No, really, he plays an alien.

Good news for Matt Lanter fans: While 90210 may be saying farewell this week, Matt won’t be leaving our TV screens (or The CW) anytime soon! His new series Star-Crossed — formerly titled Oxygen — was officially picked up to series May 9, and he recently gave the scoop on what the sci-fi thriller is all about.

“It’s kind of like Brown Vs. The Board of Education, with aliens, mixed with an epic romance,” Matt explained, fully aware of how strange his explanation sounded. “You’re going to have all these human rights issues we dealt with as a society 50-something years ago, but you’re dealing with it between humans and aliens.”

Star-Crossed will take place in the future, where aliens live in their own segregated community, and Matt happens to play one of those aliens. Things get complicated — to say the least — when his character, Roman, falls in love in with human-girl Emery (Aimee Teegarden).

“The pilot is all about a government program to desegregate the two species, and it starts in an American high school,” Matt continued. “On top of all that, you have this forbidden romance [between Roman and Emery.] It’s kind of like a Romeo & Juliet story. It’s the star-crossed lovers that can’t be, and shouldn’t be, but have to be.”

Along with Star-Crossed, The CW also picked up dramas The 100The Tomorrow People and Reign.

HollywoodLifers, will you check out Star-Crossed when it lands on The CW? Drop a comment with your thoughts on the new series!

Changing the name from Oxygen doesn’t change the fact that this show sounds just like the book Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout. WTH?

Star-Crossed sounds very stupid the cw are even idiots for picking it up.How dare they canceled 90210 for this crap
.Can’t wait to see it get canceled. A true 90210 wouldn’t watch it. Its unfair how the CW treated us. We should gotten a short 6th season of 90210,not this lame show ,with no taste.

CW cancelled 90210 because very few people watched the last season. It was the lowest rated show outside of Nikita which is closing on a possibly going into syndication. I applaud The CW for attempting to bring in new shows that might actually draw viewers. I get tired of people who whi9ne about shows getting canceled when they are that lowly rated.

I’ll totally watch it! I love Matt lanter and will miss 90210. The new show kind of sounds a bit like the book obsidian but it sounds like it will be a good show
