Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been identified as one of the two men who bombed the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring nearly 200. Despite the horror and violence that this man wrought, his father stood by him in a brand new interview. Keep reading to see what he said.
As police continued their massive manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on April 19, the Associated Press was able to contact his father, Anzor by telephone from the Russian city of Makhachkala. And all things considered, what he had to say about his at large son was quite shocking.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s Father Speaks
“My son is a true angel,” Anzor told the Associated Press. “Dzhokhar is a second-year medical student in the U.S. He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here.”
This father’s statement, that his murderous son is an angel, is truly shocking and seems to be a gross case of denial or misunderstanding. Or even worse, approval.
Because no matter how unconditional a parent’s love is, there’s no doubt that 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a dangerous, violent, at best troubled young man.
Not only did he and his brother, Tamerlan, set off bombs that killed multiple people and injured many more at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, but he also inflicted violence trying to escape capture on the night of April 18 and into the early morning of April 19.
Boston Bombing Suspects’ Shootout With Boston Police
Dzhokhar robbed a Cambridge, Mass. 7/11 on April 18, and from there he and his brother shot and killed an MIT campus policeman after he responded to a suspicious incident. And after being chased to Watertown, Mass., the police and the Tsarnaev brothers engaged in an intense shootout, during which Tamerlan was killed.
Dzhokhar is currently still at large, as Boston police are conducting a ramped up manhunt to locate and capture him. You can watch live coverage of the hunt below.
