Selena Gomez Swatted: Police Called To Her LA Home
Seriously? Just a couple hours after Justin Timberlake was swatted, LAPD was called to Selena’s home in what appears to be another swatting prank!
Selena Gomez is the latest victim of a swatting prank scheme that is running rampant in Hollywood! On April 5, police responded to a call reporting that there was an altercation between Selena’s parents at her LA home, TMZ reports.
Selena Gomez: Third Celebrity Swatting Victim In Two Days
An unidentified caller reported to the police that Selena’s dad shot and killed her mother. The swatter added that her father had a large collection of 20 weapons, and planned to burn down the house.
Sources tell TMZ that the LAPD is having a very difficult time catching the group that has been carrying out these pranks throughout Los Angeles.
Swatting Prank Definition
Urban Dictionary defines swatting as “a goal achieved by hacking where the hacker tricks 911 systems into deploying SWAT to an unsuspecting victim’s home under false pretenses.”
Justin Bieber: Another Swatting Victim
Selena is just one of many celebrities who have recently been the target of a swatting prank, including her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber!
On October 9, police were called to Justin’s home in Los Angeles when a caller claimed a person was waving a gun outside of Justin’s house. LAPD immediately responded, bringing helicopters and police cars. When police arrived, Justin’s security let them search the house, but they didn’t find anything. At the time of the call, Justin was at a concert in Tacoma, Washington for his Believe tour.
Other recent celeb swatting prank victims include Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus.
