Kevin Ware’s Injury X-Ray — What It Looks Like

Kevin’s tibia broke through his skin during the Louisville vs. Duke March Madness game on March 31, and now CNN’s Dr. Sanja Gupta reveals how it happened.

Kevin Ware‘s injury looked absolutely horrific, but luckily he underwent a two-hour surgery immediately following the March 31 accident on the basketball court. Dr. Sanjay Gupta spoke about the injury on CNN and said what he thinks caused his tibia to break.

What Kevin Ware’s Injury Looks Like

Dr. Sanjay spoke about it and said: “A lot of pressure on those two bones below the knee … the forces are pretty extraordinary. There could have been stress fractures, things that can weaken the bone a bit as well. So if you put a big jump, on top of an awkward landing, that can all play a role. I did wonder about some underlying weakness of the bone.”

HollywoodLife.com spoke with Dr. Glashow, the co-chief of sports medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, who tells us: “I think this will take about six months to recover, and he could be back on the court that quick. The rod may or may not be removed from his leg. They will probably keep it in for a year.”

Kevin Gives His First Interview

Kevin spoke with ESPN and said that “he’ll be fine” and that he didn’t even realize what had happened until he looked down.

“I jumped and my leg felt kind of funny,” Kevin said. “When Coach P tried to help me up, he gave me a funny kind of look. I’m looking at him and then I look down and I see my bone sticking out. It wasn’t a hurt feeling. I just went into shock. In the moment, you don’t know what’s wrong with you. You’re just looking, thinking, ‘How did this happen?’ I never watched the replay. I never want to.”

We are just hoping that Kevin will be able to recover quickly!
