How tragic. Shain, 21, the star of MTV’s newest reality show ‘Buckwild,’ was found dead, along with two other bodies, in a vehicle in West Virginia on April 1.
Shain Gandee was reported missing before he was found dead on April 1, according to law enforcement. The Buckwild star was a breakout figure on MTV’s new reality show, which appeared to be a replacement for Jersey Shore.
Shain Gandee Found Dead With Two Other Bodies
Shain, 21, and two other bodies were discovered in a vehicle in Sissonville, West Virginia, officials tell TMZ.
According to the website, Shain was heard from around 3 AM on April 1, when the reality star told friends he was going “four-wheeling” in his SUV, a 1984 red and white Ford Bronco, with his uncle David Gandee.
The Kanawha Sheriff’s Office tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “We cannot confirm the identities of the bodies at this point, but there are three. The vehicle was found at 11:30 AM this morning in a wooded area near Shain’s house. We are dealing with a geography problem right now because it is a remote area and the car is in a ravine. The bodies have not yet been moved, and I estimate that a passerby found the car. Shain and David were last seen at Big Larry’s bar at 3 AM on Sunday night, and they were reported missing later by family. I don’t know if they crashed, but that’s a strong possibility.”
MTV released a statement saying:
“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”
UPDATE: One of the bodies was identified as David, 48, according to WOWKTV.
MTV stars such as Deena Cortese aand Jenni “JWoww” Farley, along with the cast of Buckwild have been tweeting their condolences for Shain.
‘Buckwild’ Has Been Smeared With Controversy Since Its Debut
Fellow Buckwild star Salwa Amin was arrested in a drug raid on Feb. 10 outside of Charleston, WV. Salwa and two men were arrested after a shipment of narcotics were delivered to a home they were at.
Salwa, 24, then skipped her court date on March 27 and was arrested again.
Not only is Salwa’s future on Buckwild in jeopardy after her arrest, but the future of the show itself may be doomed with the loss of Shain. In February, however, Buckwild was renewed for a second season.
Our thoughts go out to Shain’s friends and family. A recent report by TMZ suggests that Shain died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should MTV end Buckwild after these two tragedies?
